Presentation Day 2014 – Award Announcements

Presentation Day 2014

Thank you to all of the fantastic people who made last Sunday’s Presentation Day so special.

We had wonderful volunteers who helped with the set-up, cooking on the BBQ and clean-up at the end of the day. Their efforts made the day run smoothly which made it more enjoyable for all.

AWARD WINNERS

Minor Premiership Winner
On the day Ashley Leighton from Football Gold Coast presented the Minor Premiership trophies to the following teams:
Under 14 Division 2
Under 16 Girls
Under 16 Division 1

These teams finished top of their league after the home and away series. This is a wonderful feat given the standard of the competition

Top Four Finishers
The club also acknowledged the hard work of the following teams who finished in the top four in their grade and therefore are part of the final series.
Under 13 Girls
Under 14 Girls
Under 18 Division 1
Under 18 Division 2

We would also like to congratulate the Veto 2 Robina B team for finishing in the top four in their league.

Good Luck to all of our teams for the final series.

Club Awards
Each year the club acknowledges the hard work and achievements of individuals who have shown the qualities that we at Robina City wish to nurture and promote. This year the winners are:

Referee of the Year
Alex Raven and James Ellins
These two outstanding young men have been recognised by Football Gold Coast for their excellence in refereeing. We all know that refereeing is not the easiest of jobs, but both Alex and James remain professional under the most trying situations.

Coach of the Year
For the second year running our coach of the year is Lewis Staples. As you will all know from our first newsletter, Lewis continuously goes above and beyond to coach teams and individuals at our club. He not only coaches the Under 14 JPL but he coached the Under 8 green team and mentor two young junior coaches until one of the parents was able to committee to the team. Lewis also took on individual coaching for one of our players who needed extra support. We as a club thank Lewis for his hard work and dedication to our club.

Junior Club Person of the Year
This year’s Junior Club Person is Leah Nelson. Leah plays in the Under 13 Girls team and can always be found around the club helping out whenever possible. She is one of our junior referees and was acknowledged by officials from one of the other clubs for her handling of the final of our under 7’s carnival earlier in the year. Leah is a wonderful example to all of our young members that being involved helps everyone.

Club Person of the Year
The role of President is not any easy one. At Robina we are fortunate to have Mike Staples as our club President. Mike was awarded the Club Person of the Year for his outstanding service to our club as both a coach and also as President. Mike has a wealth of experience with football on the Gold Coast and has been involved in a number of clubs prior to coming to Robina. His leadership has seen the club increase its presence in the local community which has increased our sponsorship. Mike is a highly deserving winner of this year Club Person of the Year.

Your Committee
Robina City Soccer Club is fortunate to have a group of hardworking members who work tirelessly to keep the club running on a daily basis. It is important to acknowledge these people and thank them for all they have done to make our club a better place.

2015 Season
In 2015 we are looking to increase parent involvement in the running of the club. This can be from helping to sell raffle tickets, to helping out with organising the teams. As you saw from the Presentation Day, if we all pitch in and do a bit the job is much more manageable.

We encourage you to give your time in any way possible. If you would like to know more come to an open Committee Meeting Tuesday 16th September at 6.30pm and see what is happening with the club in 2015 and beyond.
